Of all the games to NOT be on TV

A benches-clearing brawl after Shelley Duncan spikes Iwamura. There is no video evidence, but I think it went something like this:

Joe Girardi has a reputation for being pretty ruthless and competitive. Does this mean that the Yankees will finally show some balls under the helm of Joe Girardi? Will we finally protect our multi-bajillion-dollar players so they don't have to play duck-and-cover in the batter's box? Can we finally brush some pesky hitters off the plate? Let's hope so.

UPDATE: There was video of the slide and the brawl on YES and ESPN.

While I don't think Girardi was the mastermind behind the Stab-Iwamura-In-The-Leg Play or the Graze-Evan-Longoria Play, I'm glad
that he was so outspoken after the initial arm-breaking incident, and
then acted like it was no big deal when it came to talking about Duncan's play. "I'll have to watch the tape." Nice try. Torre may
have been able to use the "sorry, I wasn't watching" excuse, but I'd imagine Girardi was paying very close attention as Duncan ran the bases yesterday.

I loved Gomes and his "that's not the Yankee Way." Thank you, Mr.
Tampa Bay Ray for telling the Yankees all about the Yankee way. I'm so tired of other teams playing that card whenever the Yanks get fired up. I'm sorry, the next time you break a player's arm, the Yankees will demonstrate their class by taking you to the Opera or something. And if railroading the catcher in a spring training game is a "hard" play, and sliding in to second with your spikes up is a "dirty" play, how would Gomes describe running in from right field and tackling a baserunner?

By the way, does anyone know why Meacham and Long were ejected? Was
Meacham giving the ol' Kick Him In The Glove sign as Duncan slid in to
second? And I guess Long was the one who showed Shelley how to hit,
and if he hadn't hit the ball he wouldn't have been able to slide into second.

I think it's safe to say Girardi didn't approve the cleating ahead of time but it looks a lot like the pitching change was made before the game to set up the Longoria plunking.

Meacham and Long probably had some choice words with the umps during the kerfuffle.

Another Yankee fan lesson: Shelly Duncan cleats someone, he's a criminal. Elliot Johnson or Mike Lowell levels someone, it's hardball.

I think Shelley Duncan got an extra game for not falling down after Gomes bounced off of him.
